Christian
Taylor graduated from New York University Film School in 1993 which was
highlighted when his thesis film, “The Lady in Waiting,” won the “Gold
Medal” at the Student Academy Awards®, a special recognition from
the Directors Guild of America. The film went on to receive a
nomination for “Best Live Action Short” at the 1993 Academy
Awards®. In the months that followed, “The Lady in Waiting”
continued to generate worldwide acclaim and went on to garner several
other top awards at film festivals and foundations making it one of the
most recognized student films of all time.
The following year, Christian received an invitation to attend the
Sundance Filmmakers Lab to develop “The Lady in Waiting” into a feature
script and also received an award fellowship from the Directors Guild
of America to shadow Neil Jordan throughout production of “Interview
with a Vampire.” Four years later he went on to assist Academy
Award-winning® screenwriter Alan Ball on “American Beauty” and the
short-lived ABC sitcom “Oh Grow Up.” Their creative relationship
continued with Christian serving as a producer for the pilot of “Six
Feet Under” and remaining as an integral part to the ongoing
development of the popular HBO series, where he was a screenwriter and
producer for two seasons. During this time he wrote three episodes,
including “In Place of Anger” which was nominated in 2002 for
“Outstanding Script in Episodic Drama” by the Writers Guild of America.
In addition, Christian received Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominations
for his work on “Six Feet Under.” After writing for the ABC drama
series “Miracles,” (2003) Christian has been focusing his writing
talent on developing a pilot for CBS and writing two feature films
(both dramas).
While working on “Six Feet Under,” Christian decided to pursue a
childhood dream as chronicled in the independent film, “Showboy,” that
he Co-Directed and starred in. After its premiere at the Los Angeles
Film Festival, “Showboy” became an immediate hit with film festival
audiences around the world, and received numerous awards including,
“Best Directorial Debut” at the British Independent Film Awards and
“Best Picture” at the Milan International Film Festival. “Showboy”
(www.showboy-themovie.com) will take center stage at theaters in April
2004 with distribution by here! Films/Regent Releasing.
When “Showboy” wrapped production, Christian returned to life as a Los
Angeles-based screenwriter and director, and spends his free time
snowboarding, surfing, reading, scuba diving, traveling and hanging out
in the Venice Beach area where he recently finished building a house.
However, the bright lights of Las Vegas remain only a short distance
away.
